The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has informed Munson Healthcare that a patient screened at Munson Healthcare’s Mobile Collection Site in Cadillac has a confirmed case of COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2).
Safety precautions recommended by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization were followed in screening the patient. Munson Healthcare continues to put the safety of its patients, staff, and community as its top priority. With this confirmed case, Munson Healthcare Employee Health is actively notifying the staff who were involved in the screening of the patient and following up accordingly.
Munson Healthcare has established mobile collection sites in each of its communities with a hospital. Screening at these locations significantly reduces the risk of infection to others, including staff. These sites are not open to the general public. Patients must have a lab order from their provider in order to be screened.
District Health Department No. 10 is now investigating patient contact in this case and maintaining contact until that patient is no longer contagious.
Munson Healthcare continues to collaborate with the state and the local health department as this situation continues to evolve. Health system officials are monitoring developments and will provide healthcare guidance and updates as appropriate. Now more than ever it is imperative for the public to practice social distancing and good hand hygiene to help prevent further spread of the disease.
