The Grand Traverse County Health Department and United Way of Northwest Michigan (UWNWMI) are pleased to partner to provide volunteers for the Vaccination Clinic at the Northwestern Michigan College’s Hagerty Conference Center located in Traverse City, Mich. UWNWMI will be recruiting volunteers through their Get Connected platform at: https://unitedwaynwmi.galaxydigital.com.
“We are dedicated to our community and helping our health departments and community partners vaccinate as quickly as possible. We know that the more people helping, the quicker we can assist the health department and help us to recover from this pandemic,” said Seth Johnson, President of UWNWMI.
The health department is looking for general volunteers to help with non-healthcare related tasks during the vaccination clinics, running now through at least February. Volunteers will be required to wear a mask and follow all CDC guidelines. Anyone interested in volunteering their time will need to create a volunteer profile, including submitting to a background check, as well as completing a COVID-19 waiver. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.
“Our heroic frontline workers are doing their part, and we are thankful that there are so many in our community who are stepping up, raising their hand to help out and support our community moving forward.” said Mike Lahey, Grand Traverse County Emergency Preparedness Director.
This community need, as well as others, can be found on the UWNWMI Get Connected website, https://unitedwaynwmi.galaxydigital.com. Due to COVID-19 restrictions and health privacy, only volunteers that have registered for time slots on the Get Connected platform will be admitted to NMC’s Hagerty Center to volunteer.
